I was asked, How to Re-Number Activity IDs via Excel?

Solution

1. Create a User Defined Field (Enterprise, User Defined Fields).  For example 'NewID'.
2. Export the Activity ID and 'NewID" UDF and, if necessary, Activity Description.
3. Open the Excel file and populate the newly created UDF column with the new Activity IDs.
4. Import the Excel file.
5. Run a Global Change to make the Activity ID become equal to the UDF:

For the Global Change:
Activity ID  =  NewID
